Join Elle Crabtree for an introduction to modern calligraphy, over the course of the 2.5 hour workshop, you will learn everything you need to know to get started with dip pen calligraphy. Building up from basic strokes to forming words and phrases.
In this calligraphy workshop designed especially for beginners, you will be fully guided through warm up exercises, creating basic shapes and letters with a pointed nib and ink and by the end of the workshop move onto joining letter forms and creating your own calligraphic words and phrases, creating a finished bookmark to take home.
In this fun and relaxed workshop, we will build your confidence with pointed nib calligraphy and give you the skills to create beautiful hand-lettered art.
This workshop is perfect for beginners, hobbyists or anyone looking to explore the art of modern calligraphy in a relaxed and creative environment.
A beginners calligraphy starter kit to take home with you is included.
Due to the use of ink, we recommend wearing dark coloured clothing or something you don’t mind getting potential ink splatters on.

Elle is a modern calligrapher whose journey with a dip pen and ink began in 2016 after receiving a thoughtful thank you gift from a relative, which ignited a passion for the art of pointed nib calligraphy. What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into a true passion for the art of all things hand lettered. Predominantly self taught and after an initial online beginners workshop in 2020, Elle has honed her skills over the last eight years and now creates bespoke pieces that blend both traditional and contemporary styles.
Elle founded her modern calligraphy studio in 2022 and specialises in the art of calligraphy and hand lettering. Her workshop offerings for 2025 aim to inspire others to discover the beauty, joy and mindfulness of handwritten lettering through calligraphy. Elle specialises in elevating your special occasions through her art, adding that personalised handwritten touch.
