1. Policy Statement
Wildling Studio located at The Barn, Charlcutt, SN11 9HH is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for all children participating in our creative programs. We are committed to safeguarding children from harm, abuse, or exploitation while promoting their artistic and emotional development. This policy outlines the measures in place to ensure child safety and safeguarding within our studio.
2. Principles
All children have the right to feel safe, respected, and protected from harm.
Every adult working in our studio has a responsibility to prioritise the safety and well-being of children.
Open communication and collaboration with parents or guardians are crucial for effective child protection.
3. Key Responsibilities
3.1 Studio Staff:
All staff members will undergo background checks before starting their employment.
Staff will receive training on child protection policies and procedures.
Staff will be attentive to signs of abuse and will report any concerns to the designated safeguarding officer.
3.2 Designated Safeguarding Officer:
A designated safeguarding officer will be appointed to oversee child safety and respond to concerns (Wiltshire Council's Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub MASH. For children and young people, the MASH can be reached at 0300 456 0108)
The designated safeguarding officer will receive specialised training and stay updated on relevant legislation.
3.3 Parents/Guardians:
Parents/guardians are encouraged to communicate openly with the studio staff and report any concerns promptly.
Parents/guardians must provide emergency contact information and relevant medical details for their child.
4. Code of Conduct
All staff and volunteers must adhere to a code of conduct that outlines appropriate behaviour and interactions with children.
Physical contact with children should be limited to what is necessary for their safety and well-being.
5. Supervision
Adequate supervision will be maintained during all pottery studio activities to ensure the safety of children.
Age-appropriate ratios of staff to children will be maintained.
6. Reporting Procedures
Any suspicion or disclosure of abuse or neglect will be reported to the designated safeguarding officer immediately (Wiltshire Council's Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub MASH. For children and young people, the MASH can be reached at 0300 456 0108)
The designated safeguarding officer will follow the appropriate procedures, including reporting to the relevant authorities if necessary.
7. Confidentiality
All information regarding child safeguarding concerns will be treated confidentially and shared only with those who need to know.

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure its effectiveness.
Staff will receive regular training to stay informed about child protection issues.
9. Communication
This policy will be communicated to all staff, volunteers, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
10. Acknowledgment
All staff, volunteers, and parents will be required to acknowledge receipt and understanding of this policy.
